Diamond Engagement Rings are the “It-Gifts”

While Santa Claus is getting ready to make his rounds this December 25th, grooms-to-be are also getting ready to make their rounds. But instead of giving gifts like dolls and action figures to one and all, the guys are giving diamond engagement rings to their sweethearts.

December is one of the most popular months to propose after all. Couples capitalize on all of that holiday cheer and make spirits even brighter by getting engaged. Diamond engagement rings are running rampant right now.

TheWeddingReport.com revealed earlier this year that December is the most popular month to get engaged, with Saturday as the most common day for these proposals to occur. Move over spring; romance is hitting hard core this winter, with many men popping the question.

But grooms take note: Giving the gift of a diamond engagement ring does not mean you are off the hook of getting another present for your sweetheart this Christmas. The pressure is high for a gentleman to get at least one other gift for his girlfriend other than a three stone diamond engagement ring. It is Christmas, after all, and proposing does not mean a guy gets permission to only give the gift of promising to get hitched. These are two occasions, requiring two presents. The plight of the person born on a holiday knows this to be true. The time may overlap, but that does not mean the two occasions turn into one.

Luckily, for a man’s budget, the other gift comes at a much lower price tag when compared to a diamond engagement ring. Think more along the lines of an iPod or sweater as second present options, both of which clearly say something other than “Will you marry me?”

And luckily for the grooms, brides-to-be most often times approve the ring choice.

Unlike many gifts given during the holidays, diamond engagement rings rarely go returned. Most women love the diamond engagement ring they receive for Christmas because they usually have some sort of say in the purchase.

From dropping subtle clues to their loves via magazine clips left on a pillow or keeping an online jewelry site open on his computer, women often influence the ring purchase these days. Sometimes, females even tell their future grooms exactly what they want and/or hit the stores or Internet with them. It is very rare for wannabe grooms to shop solo for diamond rings. But even for the guys delivering a complete proposal surprise, ring returns our uncommon. Breathe a sigh of relief.

It is raining diamond engagement rings in December. The more, the merrier.
